Title For My Trailer!

Once all the footage was filmed and I was able to edit it together I then had to add the title to the trailer 'Secrets Of The Heart'. The text although is different to the style on my poster I feel that it still represents my trailer's genre and style and also allowed me to try a different style of text. This is my final title for my trailer.

Secrets Of The Heart Title

Looking back at my text on my movie poster I feel that the text on the trailer suited it much better than my one on my poster and also I feel that it looks more like the kind of title for my style of trailer and genre. Overall I was happy with both style of texts from my poster and trailer and I feel it goes with the footage and the rest of the text.

Before I wrote the title on my trailer I looked at the different titles to films that are popular and also looked at how it represents the trailer and it's style of text. Some of them I looked at were 'Alice In Wonderland (2010)' and 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2'.

Alice In Wonderland (2010) Title

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part Two Title

Brave Title

Hunger Games: Catching Fire Title

The Hobbit Title

Fright Night (2011) Title

Lemony Snicket's: A Series Of Unfortunate Events Title

Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones Title

Company Logo's

Now that I had come up with both my final magazine cover and poster I then I had to work on my trailer. To start with I decided to come up with some company logos to which I later added onto my final movie poster and the company I had used last I would use as my second company logo but for my first company logo I wanted my own logo and company I wanted to have my own company logos and not ones borrowed from real life companies such as 'Paramount' and 'WaltDisney'. These are my own logo and my old company logo.

Seize The Moment Productions Logo
This is my own company logo and I decided to theme the logo after the title of my company 'Seize The Moment Productions'. I decided to call it 'Seize The Moment' because I felt that the title sounded like it would be an actual film company and also because I knew that I wanted something dramatic and appealing to be my target audience and everyone else who would see my trailer. I feel that the image of the black and gold clock with roman numerals would fit in with the white text and style of my company. Overall i feel that this logo looks more professional compared to the one I had used in previous work and also looked more like something I wanted to see on a trailer or poster.

HourGlass Productions Logo
This is my old company logo that I had used in my previous year of Media. I decided to use as the second company logo because all films have to companies the one that made the film 'Seize The Moment Productions' and that people that are associated with the company 'HourGlass Productions'. Overall I feel that the company looks good but I feel that if I could improve on it then I would make it look a bit more appealing and also look at the way I could use the colours a bit more differently.

But before I came up with my logo I did some logo research of the most popular companies. In all the popular company logos they all had an image in the background which represented the title of the company for example 'DreamWorks' have a boy on the moon fishing floating through clouds and this makes it feel dream like, and many other companies have done so. Here are some I had looked at.

DreamWorks Logo                                                   Walt Disney Logo

Warner Brothers Logo

Columbia Pictures Logo                                                                         New Line Cinema Logo

Paramount Logo

The Final Magazine Cover!

This is the final three magazine covers for my project which also accompaines my final movie poster. I feel that the drafts for the magazine covers were better than the drafts of my movie poster and also helped me out straight away as it showed the layout of how I wanted the cover to look like. These are my final three magazine covers for my magazine called 'Films 411'.

Because the layout was perfect and showed what I wanted for my magazine all I decided to do was darken the actual image. I did that because i wanted the main image to stand out and also wanted it to look a bit more professional.

Overall the final magazine covers I feel came out perfectly and also represent an actual film based magazine cover for example 'Empire' and 'TotalFilm'. I also feel that it represents a film magazine cover but maybe a more young adult style magazine cover and I feel that it does go with the final movie poster I had come up with.

The idea to have multiple magazine covers for the film was something I had thought about but was helped along the way when I saw one that was done for 'The Avengers' but I knew I was going to do it as a draft idea I didn't know that it would actually happen and I feel that it brought my idea for my magazine into more of a final idea. Overall the magazine cover came out they I wanted it to come out and goes well the images, different styles of text and also the layout of the images and texts.

Drafts For My Magazine Covers!

Once my poster was completed I then went onto developed and drafting up my magazine cover, to do so I looked back at the research I had done and also looked back at the layout I had designed early on in my project. To make my magazine cover I used Photoshop CS5, the same software I used for my poster and I choose this because I felt that my poster came out great and professional so I thought I could try to do the same for my magazine cover.

These were my first three magazine covers I designed and to make mine a bit different compared to other magazines I decided to use the idea of having the magazine to have three different front pages and articles that can be collected which would be the main one and then one each for both the main characters.

I feel that the layout looked like an actual magazine cover and also that the background made the characters stand out from the rest of the magazine. I decided to use blue and white as my colour for my fonts and grey for my background. I also decided to include images of the first couple of posters that I had done as when I had designed my magazine cover I hadn't finished my final poster just yet.

The title for my magazine I had come up with myself 'Films 411' I chose this title because I felt that it went with the way I wanted my magazine to be seen as and also be noticeable in the stands of a shop if it were an actual magazine. I decided to make the magazine article for all three magazines to be 'Secrets Of The Heart Revealed' as I felt that it would connect with my article and also when it came to the separate magazines I changed the subheading from 'Stars Reveals' to 'She/He' Reveals. I feel that my magazine covers were laid perfectly and also that it went with the idea of what I had for my cover to be presented especially in the posses of the actors.

Overall using Photoshop CS5 has worked out well for my magazine cover and that if I were able to another magazine cover I would use the same software. I feel that my magazine cover would stand out in a shop and also draw in my target audience and even other people. This was going to be the final layout for my final magazine covers.

The Final Movie Poster!

The posters I had done had led to this final posters, I feel that they started out sloppy but as I continued to edit and change things around I feel that it would has made me think more about my poster and I feel that it would appeal to my target audience and also showed how I wanted my idea to be seen by other people. This is the final poster for the movie 'Secrets Of The Heart'.

Secrets Of The Heart Film Poster

I feel that this poster would appeal to my target audience and also came out the way I wanted my poster to come out. In the end I went for a more simple layout like many other posters such as 'The Fault In Out Stars' and one poster from the film 'Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones'. I decided to use both the characters in my poster and also so they are back to back and looking at the camera, I chose this because I felt it would draw my audience in and also looked effect as a poster of the chosen genre. I decided to go for red, white and black as my colour for my text and a more of dramatic style of font the first set of fonts didn't suit the images I had used for the poster also decided to add less text so it focuses on the text and also on the characters. I feel that is the final poster and also that it appealed to my audience which also connected with my idea and the way I wanted it to be laid out.

Drafts For My Poster!

Once I had a go at coming up with some practice posters I then went onto design my poster using my own images. To do this I used Photoshop CS5 software, I decided to use this for creating my poster as I had some experience with it and also I felt that it would make my poster have more of an effect on my target audience. I went through many different styles of pictures, layouts, fonts and effects so that can get an idea of what final poster would be.

Although I had decided to use Photoshop CS5, I decided to give Serif PhotoPlus a go. These two posters were done on that software and were my first two I had done. I feel that they didn't look the way i wanted it to look and also didn't represent my idea or the genre I had chosen. I knew from their I would go onto using Photoshop CS5 for the rest.

The next four posters I used a dark and grey like effect on the image. i also decided to see if blue, red and white would be perfect for my text. I also changed the tagline the first one was 'Two lovers, Two secrets and a fight for love'. I felt that the tagline was two long and also gave the film away two much so I changed it to 'Can love win the battle to live' I felt that it was better than the first slogan I had before, I also changed the font style and it looked better compared to the first two. I feel that these three posters were an improvement but I knew that none of them would be my final poster.

These four were my final drafts of my poster and looking at them I knew I had the layout the way I wanted it but also the style I wanted the poster to be. I changed the tagline so it was short and simple which also connected to the title which is 'Can secrets be kept'. I also changed the colour to just red, write and black and I feel that it represented my idea. I then decided to keep my poster simple and also added my own logos for my own companies onto the poster. I feel that I have finally had the right layout and colour for my poster.

I feel that by using Photoshop CS5 it has made me change my poster so much which also improved each time that I had edited the effects and changed the layout of my poster. I knew that from the last poster I had the right layout but needed a different style of text.

Practice Posters!

Before I designed my draft and final movie poster I decided to come up with practice posters using images from Google and I also used the genre research I had done to show what see what I could do with the different genres and then be able to maybe incorporate that into my poster. For my practice poster I used Serif PhotoPlus, I used this because I felt that I needed to learn a new skill on a different software and also see if that would be the right programme to use.

The Change Poster

'The Change' was the first of the practice posters. I used character images from 'Teen Wolf' as I felt that I could use them as a practice run for my posters, I had come up with the title as most of the characters on the show change into supernatural characters so I took that and came up with that title and then because it was a group sort the tagline 'Change can be a group thing') sorted the image above and also I felt that it connected to the title had come up with along with the date 'Change on Oct 9).

Action Style Poster

I then went onto looking at the different genres I had written about for my research side of my project, I also decided to keep with the cast of 'Teen Wolf' but change the title to 'Teen Wolf' instead of 'The Change'. The first genre I decided to look at was Action. I decided to use Scott McCall as the main part of this poster and to make it seem dramatic yet action like which also goes with the genre one example would be 'Indiana Jones'. I decided to use a dark woods image and also a dramatic shot of the character. I also decided to put the text in red so that it would stand out and the text at the bottom was an image I downloaded from Google which is the bottom half of what would be on a poster. I like this poster as I feel that it looks professional and also I felt that it didn't give too much away of the film.

Adventure Style Poster

The next genre I looked at was Adventure. This time I used the four main characters from the show and also used more images that would represent an adventure poster. I decided to use a map as the background image as I felt that most adventures have a map involved for example 'Pirates Of The Caribbean', I also used a compass and a chest to represent an adventure as often they always are looking for something. The text I choose I felt represented the genre perfectly and also that it showed an adventurous theme, I also moved the characters to the top the poster as I felt that it would be different also once it was finished I felt that it suited the poster perfectly. I like this poster as I feel that it does represent the genre and also the tagline 'Adventure of a life time' showed what the film would be about.

Comedy Style Poster

The next genre I looked at was Comedy. To change my poster up a bit so that it was different to the other posters above I decided to theme the comedy around the bad/comedic male characters of the show for example 'Kick Ass 2'. I also decided to use their more serious poses as the tagline I had choose to write would connect and also make it seem like it would be a comedy which is 'Not everything is a laughing matter', I also used a simple brick wall background as I wanted the characters look more appealing and also draw in an audience. I like this poster because all though it is simple it looks and feels that it would be a comedy and also focuses on the characters more.

Crime and Gangster Style Poster

The next genre I looked at was Crime and Gangster. To do this poster I decided to use the Argent family from the show as I wanted the poster seem like the family are a gang of criminals which is often typically shown in that genre for example 'The Godfather' and is in the show which the are a family of hunters, also the weapons they had on the images helped made the poster look even more effect. I chose a bloody background as I felt that it would appeal more to that genre and also the tagline connected to the image which is 'Crime is this family's business'. I like this poster as it represents the genre perfectly, however if I were to improve it I would change the colour of the text so it is a bit more readable.

Horror Style Poster

The next genre I did was Horror. For this poster I decided to base the genre on the teen werewolves on the show so that it would be different to the other posters and also that it would appeal to teenagers specifically for example 'Scream'. I chose a dark wooden slightly bloody background because I felt that it would represent the genre more and the the tagline I had written also connected to the storyline of the characters and it reads 'What happens to one, happens to all'. I like this poster because it showed the genre perfectly especially the text font and the photos of the characters but I would use a more darker red if i could improve it.

Musical Style Poster

The final genre I looked at was Musical. I chose this genre because I felt that it would be a more cheerful one to look at and also I wanted to see if I could show the romance of the characters in the poster. I decided to base it on their love because often musicals about two people falling in love and then singing about it for example 'Grease', that is why the tagline I had chosen showed that storyline 'The music of their love'. I also chose a bright background with musical notes not only to represent the genre and also make it more cheerful compared to what else I had done. I like this poster because of how it is laid out but if I could go back and fix it I would have changed the bottom half of the poster as it didn't look perfectly edited.

After having a go on Serif PhotoPlus I decided not to use for when I go on to coming up with my poster as I felt that it didn't really work for me although most of posters I was happy with and that I had learned a new skill on a different software, I knew that if I wanted a good grade then I would need better software to do it on. Looking back at my posters it showed me that I could layout my poster in different ways and that when I come to making my poster then I would be able to come up with a good composition for my poster.
